Welcome to the wonderful world of Health and Wellness!
In today's society, the word "wellness" has been used and abused in every way possible.
It is being used interchangeably with health, although there is a difference.
Health is a lack of disease or ailment, whereas wellness is the body working at optimal level.
Why is it important to make this distinction? If you are fatigued, achy, sore, and/or lethargic,
for example, you can still be considered healthy because you have a lack of disease. Furthermore,
the minimum you do to keep yourself out of disease is still considered healthy. Wellness, as
defined here, refers to each cell in your body working at it's optimal level.
In order to achieve this, nutrition, exercise, and state of mind all must be working together
at the same time.
Why Chiropractic?
Many people today who suffer from everyday aches and pains have resolved to just live with it or
take medication to live with the pain. Why do we get these problems in the first place?
Everyday it is assaulted with lack of movement, lack of nutrients, and mini traumas.
Your body is composed of cells, tissues, organs, and muscles that all need to work harmoniously in order
for you to feel at your best. In order for them to operate this way, they need proper nutrition,
exercise, and most importantly, communication with your nervous system.
We all know that the brain controls everything, and the way it communicates with the body is through the
nervous system that exits through the spine. The reason why chiropractic has been so effective for the
past century is because it utilizes this basic premise to help the body heal itself.
Since the nervous system is the master control of the body, and the spinal column protects it, alignment
and free movement of the spine is essential to have a properly working 'control center.' Through specific
adjustments, proper diet, and exercise, chiropractors like myself can help you live at the highest level
of health and wellness.
Our Whole Body Approach
There are three major causes of disease, which are toxins, stress, and trauma. Toxins refers to the
chemicals in the food we eat, the materials we use, and the air we breathe. When our body houses
toxins, it surrounds them in fat for protection. Getting rid of these toxins will help in
metabolism, fat burning, and improve health.
Stress, in today's society, is unavoidable. However, how our bodies deal with that stress
depends on how we take care of ourselves. The major stress organ, the adrenals, are important in the
ability of our bodies to cope with the amount of stress we undergo each day. If they become fatigued,
it will affect our hormone levels and consequently, our energy levels.
Lastly, there is trauma. There are two kinds of trauma; macrotrauma, like slips and falls,
and microtrauma, like repetitive motion or long periods of time in poor position like slouching.
OSHA has estimated that after the age of 5, a person will have suffered over 100,000 traumas in their
life. This is absolutely a cause of pain and discomfort.
Each of these areas
will be evaluated by Dr. Liu to assess the state that your body is in. Depending on what area
you need more help in healing, a specific treatment plan will be tailored to your needs.
